LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Just announced as a 2010 Grammy nominee in the Best Contemporary Jazz Album category for his acclaimed Verve/Forecast debut CD, Backatown, Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews, the 24-year-old New Orleans singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist and all-around musical powerhouse today announced newly added tour dates in Australia, Singapore and New Zealand. The Australia dates represent the fifth continent that Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue’s Backatown World Tour will hit in the first year of release for the Grammy® nominated CD. Cleveland, OH – The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum and Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) has announced a special Friday night show as part of the 15th Annual American Music Masters® series in November. Walking to New Orleans: the Music of Fats Domino and Dave Bartholomew will begin Monday, November 8 and will feature lectures, interviews, films and other educational programs throughout the week, culminating on Saturday, November 13 with a conference at Case Western Reserve University and a tribute concert at the Palace Theater in PlayhouseSquare. Tribute concert artists include American Music Masters honoree Dave Bartholomew, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee Lloyd Price, Dr. John and The Lower 911, Irma Thomas, The Rebirth Brass Band and Robert Parker. Trombone Shorty Added to Final Dates of Dave Matthews  Band Tour

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews’ media profile continues to explode with several national television performances in recent and coming weeks. Included are a featured appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live on September 23, a special guest spot with Ricky Minor and The Tonight Show band on September 30, and nation-wide airing of PBS’ Austin City Limits on October 23. The 24-year-old funk/rock star who burst onto the national scene with his Backatown debut (released April 20 on Verve Forecast), recently made his late night debut on the Late Show with David Letterman and played a recurring role as himself on HBO’s hit New Orleans drama Tremé. His song “Hurricane Season” can be heard weekly on MTV’s The Real World, New Orleans as the opening title song.

Trombone Shorty’s “Hurricane Season” from his major label debut Backatown (Verve/Forecast) has been chosen as the theme song for MTV’s Real World New Orleans. The show premieres June 30, 2010 and runs for 13 episodes.

Backatown is #1 on the Billboard Contemporary Jazz Album Chart for the 9th straight week since it’s release! Thank you for your support! Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue just completed a week that would be the envy of most any musician. On Wednesday June 9, Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews joined Jeff Beck on stage at an invitation-only tribute to the late Les Paul at New York City’s Iridium Jazz Club. On Friday June 11, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue opened the Which Stage at Bonnaroo to a great response, echoed by a song from the show and new CD, “Something Beautiful,” getting 15,000 hits in the following 24 hours on YouTube. Flying to Los Angeles just hours after Bonnaroo, the band knocked out the crowd at the Playboy Jazz Festival at the prestigious Hollywood Bowl on Saturday June 12.

In the meantime, Trombone Shorty’s Backatown CD continues to reign at #1 on the Billboard Contemporary Jazz Album chart for the 7th straight week.

Catch Troy on HBO’s Treme again June 20 and catch the band on The Late Show with David Letterman on June 22 and in concert across North America as well as in Japan and Brazil this Summer.
