CLEVELAND
(February 6, 2013) – Cleveland earned its place on the rock and roll map in the early Fifties when local deejay Alan Freed was the first to call the R&B music he was playing on his nightly radio show “rock and roll.” From the 1950s to the 1970s, Clevelanders produced powerful soul and rhythm and blues music in a rich network of clubs, recording studios and record labels. This February, as part of Black History Month, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum will celebrate Cleveland’s rich musical legacy, highlighting great moments in the city’s rhythm and blues and soul music history. Fans are encouraged to share their knowledge, memories, and photos through the Rock Hall’s Facebook and Twitter page.

Mike Hallal Band--Hatchet Blues

Roots rock originals include lyrics inspired by Obama book

Lynn, MA — The Boston-based Mike Hallal Band has released a new 12-song, 64-minute album of original roots rock, titled Hatchet Blues, available today at iTunes and other popular online and mobile sites. Featuring live-in-studio recordings of basic tracks and lead vocals, the new album captures the raw power and spontaneity of the 4-piece “gutbucket blues” crew (as The Noise tagged them in ’09). The band’s previous release, Live at Lizard Lounge, was named one of the Top 100 New CDs of ’09 by Real Blues magazine, in the company of albums from Taj Mahal, Buddy Guy and other notables. MONDO GENERATOR – DOG FOOD

What do Nick Oliveri (Kyuss, Queens Of The Stone Age), Dave Grohl (Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Them Crooked Vultures), Happy Tom (Turbonegro) and Marc Diamond (The Dwarves) all have in common?

Aside from the fact they all play in some of the best bands to ever grace the earth, they all feature on the brand new single from Los Angeles band Mondo Generator.

The first taste of the new album from the band which is due for release in July, is the track ‘Dog Food’ which is set to be unleashed in May to coincde with the beginning of the bands upcoming tour.

Over the last year, band founder Nick Oliveri and fellow member Hoss, alongside producer Bradley Cook have been working on Mondo Generator’s fourth full length album ‘Time To Destroy’. During the recording process they have enlisted a number of guests to make an appearance, ‘Dog Food’ is the first taste of who is featured on the album.

With Marc Diamond on guitar duties, Happy Tom has laid down some bass tracks, while Dave Grohl provides the drum tracks and Nick Oliveri delivers his trade mark vocals.

With a fresh Mondo Generator line up in place, the band will kick off a world tour in Australia from late May before heading to Europe for shows across June and July which includes both festival and club shows. They’ll hit home territory for a US tour in August and September.

‘Dog Food’ will be released as a limited edition 7″ as well as in an extended cd/digital format.
