The internationally known Chicago group, The Vanessa Davis Band is coming back to Peoria to play a concert for the event. This band has an over thirty year tie to the Peoria area going back to when they first played at The Other Side in 1979. Two of the original band members are from Peoria, Scott Grube and Dick Vonachen and the history of the bands influence on the music scene in Peoria is amazing. They’ve had a great following over the years and when returning to Peoria … always pull in a good crowd with each appearance. The lead singer is awesome and won’t forget seeing her and the band live. All ages and all kinds of music lovers will appreciate their pure talents as entertainers.

Since 1979, The Vanessa Davis Band has played up to 16 different venues in Peoria outliving just about every club in town. Some of those you might remember or might have seen them at are The Other Side,The Emporium, Second Chance, Duffy’s, Cassano’s, Statesboro Blues, Times Square, The Distillery, Wet Willies, Contemporary Art Center, Gabriel’s, East Peoria Convention Center, Shake Rattle and Roll on the Riverfront, Vanessafest 1 at the Kaycee Club, Vanessafest 2 at Expo and Vanessafest 3 at Ravnia on the Lakes. The band played many of these places several times and although many of these clubs are long gone, The Vanessa Davis Band just keeps on going strong and now plays Internationally as well.

The talent of this band is unreal. This is a list of the greats that Vanessa Davis has been the opening act for: Muddy Waters, Allman Brothers, Ray Charles, Stevie Ray Vaughn, James Brown, Junior Wells, The Animals, Ko Ko Tayler, Etta James, Willie Dixon, John Cougar Mellencamp, Ritchie Havens, Albert King, Luther Allison, Lonnie Brooks, Big Twist, Neville Brothers, Elvin Bishop, Sugar Blue, Jimmy Johnson, Eddie Clearwater, Buddy Guy, Delbert McClinton and Room Full of Blues. Their music type is best described as Jump Style Blues, R& B, Jazzy Southside….Honky Tonk. Mostly made up of the original members include Doug Cannon on Saxophone, Scott Grube on Piano and Dick Vonachen on Guitar. Vanessa’s high energy will get a room rockin and guarantees that an audience will have a hard time staying in their seats…usually her performances will have everyone dancing!
