HISTORICAL MARKER DEDICATION

Saturday, November 13, 2010

with performances by

Texas Johnny Brown
Milton Hopkins
Diunna Greenleaf and Blue Mercy

Please come and help Houston celebrate the unveiling of the official Texas State Historical marker in honor of Sam “Lightnin'” Hopkins.  Taking place under a tent, and after a bit of “speechifyin’,” stay and enjoy live music by acclaimed Houston musicians Texas Johnny Brown, Milton Hopkins, and Diunna Greenleaf and Blue Mercy.  Refreshments will be served along with a good time.

Following the dedication of the Lightnin’ Hopkins historical marker Dr. Alan Govenar will be signing copies of Lightnin’ Hopkins: His Life and Blues (the only biography about Hopkins) at Sig’s Lagoon, 3622-E Main Street at 1:00 p.m. Books will be available for purchase. If asked, Govenar will also probably sign many of his other books including Texas Blues: Rise of A Contemporary Sound.
