From the latest “Blues in Britain Magazine”: Mud was then introduced in fine style, to take centre stage and just blow the audience away with his superb vocals and engaging manner. After instructing the band to “take their time”, his rendition of “King Bee” and “You Can’t Lose What You Never Had” was so similar to his father’s vocal style and energy that it was downright spooky, in the most enjoyable way. A snappy dresser in true Chicago style, Mud commanded attention and participation from the punters, especially during a swinging “Can’t Get No Grinding” with its catchy chorus and enthusiastic backing vocals courtesy of the Dirty Aces.

Museum and Gallery slated to open in February 2011

Rosalind Withers-Guzman, daughter of the late photographer Ernest Withers and trustee of the Withers Family Trust, announced today that David Simmons has been appointed Development Director and Curator of the Ernest Withers Collection Museum and Gallery slated to open in February 2011. David is a past President of The Blues Foundation.

Internationally recognized Canadian Blues artists will be getting plenty of attention at the 14th Annual Maple Blues Awards on January 17, 2011. This year’s crops of nominees are not only recognized at home, but have been leading Canada’s growing international reputation as a leader in the blues community. Voting opens Friday, October 29 at midnight Newfoundland time & closes Saturday, December 11 at midnight PST. Blues fans cast their votes online at http://www.mapleblues.ca.
