Matt Schofield Tours UK With USA Band Line-Up October 15, 2010

After the huge success of the nine week US summer tour Matt is bringing the same line up to the UK featuring American drummer Kevin Hayes (Robert Cray, BB King, Van Morrison).

This will also be the first time Matt has played in the UK since winning Guitarist of The Year and Album of The Year in The British Blues Awards.

Jonny Henderson also picked up Keyboard Player of the Year.

Interview: Brent Orndorff of Blue News: The Mouse that Roars October 15, 2010

Small isn’t necessarily a bad thing. For Blue News, a three man, Indiana-based, indie band, being small and working with a restricted budget was actually a plus. Producing their first two albums for free, they have gone on to establish themselves in venues throughout the mid-West, and their music has reached national media exposure to ultimately be picked up by the documentary series “Road Trip” which airs on national television.

Now what they have accomplished did not happen overnight, so this success was not a fluke. This success is the result of research and implementation, the culmination of everything that Brent Orndorff has done in music over the last 17 years.

On Saturday, October 9, 2010, the Arkansas Blues & Heritage Festival (newly renamed to the King Biscuit Blues Festival) presented the 1st Blues Symposium panel discussion at the Malco Theater on Cherry St in Helena, AR. Discussion was centered around the topic of how the land influences the culture & music of the Delta. The event was co-sponsored by the Mike Curb Institute for Music at Rhodes College, the Rhodes College African American Studies Program, and Roller Citizens Funeral Home of Helena, AR.

Albertina Walker, Queen of Gospel, Passes at 81 October 15, 2010

Albertina Walker, who is widely known as “The Queen of Gospel”, died on Friday after a long battle with respiratory problems. It has been reported that Albertina Walker was admitted in the hospital since August 29, which was her 81st birthday.

The world of gospel music is saddened with the death of Albertina Walker, who died at the age of 81. Albertina Walker was born in Chicago in 1929 and at the young age of 4, she started to sing for the children’s choir of the West Point Baptist Church.

Name is Returned to King Biscuit Festival –Long Hail the King Biscuit Festival October 15, 2010

In a surprise announcement broadcast on the Main Stage at the opening of the 2010 Arkansas Blues & Heritage Festival, Bill Sagan, founder and CEO of Wolfgang’s Vault said, “On behalf of the whole Wolfgang’s Vault family of companies, including King Biscuit, we are pleased to announce a rekindled partnership between King Biscuit and the Blues Festival. It our pleasure to announce that beginning next year, 2011, this Blues Festival will once again be named the King Biscuit Blues Festival in honor of the great historical music legacy we share.”
