National and Local Blues Bands Perform Over Labor Day Weekend

St. Louis, MO— In just under two weeks, the cobblestone streets of Laclede’s Landing will be filled with thousands of music fans when the historic district hosts the annual Big Muddy Blues Festival, St. Louis’ longest-running Blues-focused event. The free festival takes place Labor Day weekend, Saturday, Sept. 4th and Sunday, Sept. 5th, from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m. each day.

The 2010 edition features an impressive main stage line-up of iconic Blues figures including Willie “Big Eyes” Smith, Magic Slim and the Teardrops, and the legendary Booker T. Jones, a Grammy winner and longtime member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Contemporary Blues musicians Moreland and Arbuckle, Nick Curran and the Lowlifes and Eric “Guitar” Davis and local superstars Kim Massie and Roland Johnson help round out the main stage.

Filling out the Second Street satellite stages is a collection of St. Louis’ best Blues, Soul and R&B bands. Local favorites Blue City All Stars, Marsha Evans & the Coalition, Marquise Knox, Alvin Jett and the Phat Noiz Blues Band are just some of the 20 bands playing the satellite stages.

“This year’s Big Muddy is sure to please music lovers of any age,” said Emily Kochan, Executive Producer of BMBF. “We really want to showcase the full spectrum of the blues genre and the 2010 line-up will do exactly that.”

The full festival line-up is now available on the Laclede’s Landing website [www.lacledeslanding.com] and on the new BMBF blog [http://bigmuddybluesfestival.wordpress.com]. The festival blog includes regularly updated artist bios, polls, and event news and announcements. Readers are encouraged to voice their comments and opinions and link to the site on their social networks.

Big Muddy Blues Festival takes place annually in St. Louis’ historic Laclede’s Landing entertainment and dining district and is presented free-of-charge by the Laclede’s Landing Merchants Association, a 501(c)3 organization, with grants from the Regional Arts Commission and the Missouri Arts Council. Laclede’s Landing, with its cobblestone streets and century-old buildings, is adjacent to the Mississippi River, just north of the Gateway Arch.
