RealNetworks, Inc., the digital entertainment services company, has been selected by MetroPCS Communications, Inc., the fifth largest facilities-based wireless carrier in the United States, to power MetroPCS’ new MetroMusic Store currently scheduled to launch in the second half of this year.
Real’s Media Entertainment Platform, which will be used to power MetroMusic, provides wireless carriers with a branded, managed end-to-end solution, making it easy for subscribers to find, play and manage their digital content. Real provides ongoing administration and marketing support based on years of experience deploying and managing operators’ entertainment services around the world.
“We are proud to add MetroPCS to the long list of global operators who build their mobile offerings on RealNetworks’ technology and service,” said Vern Poyner, senior vice president, technology products and solutions, RealNetworks. “We look forward to working closely with MetroPCS to expand their digital entertainment capabilities now and as their network and services continue to evolve with the launch of LTE.”
