RightsFlow’s Patrick Sullivan, President and CEO, To Share Solutions For How Songwriters and Publishers Can Get Paid

Hosted By The Copyright Society Of The South At Nashville Meeting

Nashville, Tennessee – RightsFlow President and CEO Patrick Sullivan will join a panel discussion about digital distribution and the process by which publishers and songwriters are getting paid in the era of online music services such as iTunes, eMusic, Rhapsody and Napster. The Copyright Society of the South will sponsor the meeting this week in Nashville to be moderated by John Barker and to also include The Harry Fox Agency’s Maurice Russell.

The panel discussion will focus on how many digital distributors have stepped into the mechanical licensing role to ensure that publishers and songwriters get paid for online music distribution. Historically distributors have not taken on this responsibility in the physical world, but with the digitalization of music the business practice has changed.

Barker noted, “While many in the industry perceive publishing royalties in the digital world to be overly complex, Patrick Sullivan and RightsFlow are part of a real solution which simplifies the entire process by basically connecting the licensee to the licensor. I look forward to that message being presented to the Nashville publishing industry.”

Sullivan will present ways that RightsFlow has the ability to license, account and pay publishers through the company’s service offerings. He is a leading expert in the field of intellectual property and copyright management for both physical and digital media and has been at the forefront of many pivotal industry issues that have helped define and shape the current market for music in a digital era.

His extensive experience in industry negotiations, licensing and royalty payments, digital content management and distribution as well as legislative and legal affairs makes him a frequent lecturer at corporations, universities, and conferences around the world about intellectual property and copyright. He has also been a past presenter at the 2009 World Copyright Summit, NARM, AIMP, Leadership Music Digital Summit, Popkomm, and Digital Music Forums East and West.

The event will take place in the first floor conference room of ASCAP’s Nashville office located at 2 Music Square West at 4:00 pm in the afternoon. Immediately following the panel discussion, Rightsflow is sponsoring a reception until 6 pm. Please make plans to join us and to speak further with Patrick and your fellow Copyright Society members.

Space is extremely limited. To RSVP, please respond to Janice Jackson via email janice.jackson1@att.net or phone 615-424-3014 by Tuesday, March 16, 2010.
